Every third Sunday in September, over one thousand people come to
Sellersville to enjoy the many beautiful paintings and
crafts created by local and visiting artists during the festival known as
"Pennridge Gallery of the Arts." Main Street will be lined with talented artists and crafters who come to display and sell their creations. Their exhibits consist of oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphics, photography, sculpture, woodwork, and arrays of all kinds of handmade
crafts. Artists will compete
for awards and prizes. The "Best of Show" prize, valued at $1000, will be awarded,
along with a Walter E. Baum Award, to honor the top artist of the event. In addition, there
will be first, second and third place awards in each category. Original artwork will be judged by local art instructors, college art professors, and experienced artist on the day of the event. The Pennridge Jaycees started this
celebration of the arts, originally called "The Gallery in the Park,"
back in 1968. Later, Sellersville Borough and a handful of dedicated volunteers from the Pennridge area preserved and continued the event during “Sellersville Days”.
It is our smalltown charm, hospitality, and dedication to these artists
and their creative expression that brings them and all art lovers back each
year. The goal of the event is to keep the community involved with the arts.
Our town's renowned artist, Walter E. Baum,"inspired" art in the Pennridge area by filling the schools and local businesses with
his paintings. Years ago, local residents were surrounded with his artwork
while walking down Main Street. This September, pedestrians will once again
stroll the streets of Sellersville's historic district and be surrounded
by beautiful works of art. It is our hope that filling Sellersville's streets with artwork will rekindle that same spirit of support for artists today and will continue for many
artistic generations to come. Please
join us every third Sunday in September in celebrating the annual "Pennridge Gallery of the Arts". Our
warmest regards, Pennridge Gallery of the Arts Committee
